Presently in foal to triple Group 1 winning son of Street Cry, STREET SENSE, she is expecting a September foal. Also a half sister to a winner of the Group 1 VRC Emirates Stakes, this mare has never been offered for sale before and is only available through Pedigree Dynamics. Dont miss this rare opportunity to secure a superior broodmare who will produce Easter quality progeny for you. Please contact Jane for more information.

HERO TO OUR NATION

Pedigree Dynamics is delighted that we have been able to source and broker the deal that sees successful owner and breeder, Tony Santic add a top class shuttling stallion to the roster at his state of the art breeding operation, MAKYBE. Highly credentialed US Stallion STREET HERO was rated one of the highest 2YOs of his generation during the 2008 Racing Season in the US, defeating eventual champion Midshipman by winning the G1 Norfolk Stakes. Placed in both the G1 Breeders Cup Juvenile and G1 Del Mar Futurity, STREET HERO never finished worse than 3rd in a race career of just six starts. A precocious colt who retired early due to injury, STREET HERO showed an amazing turn of foot in his races and was extremely versatile performing over distances ranging from 1100m to 1700m. The deal, which was brokered in conjunction with long-term US affiliate Kathleen Sentkowski of Free State Bloodstock, will see STREET HERO stand his first season in the Northern Hemisphere at Vinery Kentucky and will shuttle to Makybe in August in time for the season. His sire Street Cry, an exceptional young superstar stallion producing Group 1 winners in each of his three crops, including top Australian 3YO Whobegotyou, has exceeded all expectations at stud and already boasts a full book this coming season here in Australia. Street Cry has been a sensation at stud right around the world. We believe Street Hero will provide a terrific option for breeders looking to tap into this world class sire line said Makybe Stud Manager Scott Holcombe.

CARADON

A lovely BLUEBIRD mare, Caradon is currently in foal to Australias Leading First Season Sire, CHARGE FORWARD. This cross creates a three-quarter relation to Caradons half sister YESTERDAY, a SW daughter of Red Ransom owned by Sheikh Mohammed. Caradon is also a half sister to SW DONNA DIOR, dam of SP GALILEOS DAUGHTER. The pedigree gets even better at the second dam with SWs such as CATBIRD, DANBIRD, FITTING, MAIZCAY and PILLAR OF HERCULES sitting there. Bluebird mares have produced Group One winners METAL BENDER, YELL, RUSSETING, UNIVERSAL PRINCE, UNIVERSAL QUEEN, THORN PARK, FULLY FLEDGED, ZAGALIA and THE DUKE. Caradons 3yo won a trial by four and a half lengths earlier this year. Her two year old is yet to race. She had a lovely scopey colt by Hussonet last season. In foal on the first service, Caradon is a terrific mother and produces large, attractive foals with great temperaments. Charge Forwards stud fee is $27,500 - making her price tag of $30,000 great value. Aged 15 years, she is in top condition and her buyer is eligible for the tax concession for mares over 13 years. (There is no GST on her purchase). Please contact Jane for any further information.

RISING EAGLE

This 13 year old mare is by DANEHILL out of VERY DROLL, making her a full sister to the Golden Slipper winner, HA HA - Champion 2 Year Old and 3 Year Old Filly Australia and New Zealand(pictured). She is also a full relation to SW DRY HUMOUR. This is an amazing speed family, her second dam being a half sister to RORYS JESTER. Rising Eagle has had 6 foals to race for 4 winners, including her promising 3 year old Cruising Eagle, who has already won four races for Leon MacDonald. Her 2 year old by Galileo is owned by Patinack Farm and is yet to race. Rising Eagle missed in 2008, however is currently in foal to HOST - a US Group One winning son of Hussonet, and due to foal early August. Rising Eagle has a great temperament and is in terrific condition. Rising Eagle is being offered for sale at $30,000, her purchaser is eligible for the tax concession on mares 13 years and over and there is no GST on her purchase. Please contact Jane for photos of the mare or for more information.

FOR SALE...Dam of smart stakes winning colt ORCA

Orcas hugely unlucky second on Saturday in the Gr.3 Frank Packer Plate signaled future Group success for the three year old son of Carnegie and Slightly Conceited. Connections plan to run him one more time in Sydney before taking him up to the Queensland Carnival, the primary goal being the Group One Queensland Derby on June 10th. Orcas owners are keen to give the colt every chance of enhancing his value as a prospective stallion, and his dam Slightly Conceited has the pedigree to support this plan. She is a full sister to 6-time Group 1 winner SLIGHT CHANCE, the dam of the very promising first season sire DANE SHADOW and of Group 3 winner SALGADO. While she missed in 2008, Slightly Conceited has a yearling filly by Starcraft yet to represent her & is in foal to Break The Vault, a Redoutes Choice sired half-brother to ZABEEL (LDS 24-9-08). This family has great potential to grow in both Australia & NZ. Half-sister Snobbish is the dam of 2 yearlings that sold for $105K & $140K at the NZ Premier Sales of 2006 & 2007 - one of these, Prickle, has already placed in Group Company twice. Other mares from her immediate family are currently in foal to CHARGE FORWARD, ROCK OF GIBRALTAR, SAVABEEL and NO EXCUSE NEEDED, sire of the 2009 AJC Oaks (Gr1) winner DAFFODIL. Price is $90,000 + GST. Please contact Jane on 0414 944 094 or 02 9997 3019. (Orca is pictured)

Great Southerns in the Great Southern Land

Two lots from the upcoming Inglis Easter Yearling Sales that should catch the eye of any avid catalogue diver, are the beautifully bred Southern Halo yearlings being vended by Vinery Stud (as Agent). So how exactly do two South American-bred yearlings wind up being offered in an Australian sale ring? Through us of course! Carriole, the dam of stakes winner CONSERVATORIO (by Hussonet) and CRYSTAL CLEAR, the Champion 3YO Filly in Chile in 2003 were sourced and purchased in Chile before being trucked to Argentina, where after considerable negotiation both mares were served by SOUTHERN HALO. From there the mares were quarantined in the USA, flown to Australia and were again quarantined in NSW until they foaled. Sounds complicated? Not for the team at PD, it was all too easy! Both yearlings are outstanding types and are well worth a look if you are at the sales next week. It wouldnt surprise us if the Carriole colt (pictured) was purchased with sire potential in mind due to the outstanding success that fellow Southern Halo son MORE THAN READY is experiencing.

Even More Cause To Celebrate

Former Grand Lodge Thoroughbreds shuttle stallion DISTORTED HUMOR has recently added a UAE Group 2 success to his list of achievements with his Godolphin US-bred colt Regal Ransom winning the US$2 million Gr2 United Arab Emirates Derby for 3YOs. Not to be outdone by her famous relative, Pedigree Dynamics-imported mare CAUSE TO DREAM (out of a half-sister to Distorted Humor) has just produced her US-bred but Aussie-born GULCH filly. GULCH is most famous in Australia for being the sire of 4-time Group 1 winner and successful sire in his own right, THUNDER GULCH. However, GULCH also sired another 69 stakes winners worldwide including 4-time Group 1 winner in Great Britain & the UAE NAYEF, dual Japanese Group 1 winner on dirt and turf EAGLE CAFE, winner of the Gr1 Hollywood Derby COURT VISION and winner of the Gr1 One Thousand Guineas in Great Britain HARAYIR to mention just a few. As a racehorse GULCH won an impressive seven Group 1 races and from 32 starts he was in the money 25 times with his career earnings totaling just shy of $US3.1 million, a very tidy sum for his day. We wish Jacob Park Thoroughbreds every success with both this beautifully bred mare and her delightful filly.

New Quest for Champion Filly

Brazilian race filly, QUESTING NEW showed great class by securing a 2 length victory in the Group 2 G.P. Presidente Guilherme Ellis at Cidade Jardim, Sao Paulo, earlier this month. The Romarin-sired filly out of Pedigree Dynamics import, LOVING NEW is now undefeated in 2 starts on turf. LOVING NEW who was the Champion 3YO Filly in Brazil in 2005 was purchased by Bellagio Lodge, who are understandably thrilled that their South American acquisition is now the dam of a Group 2 winner. In 2008 Loving New produced her first Aussie-bred foal, a cracking colt by STRATUM (pictured) and now the dual Gr1 winning mare is foal to successful sire FLYING SPUR.

No Laughing Matter

By top broodmare sire DANEHILL, Rising Eagle is a full sister to GOLDEN SLIPPER Winner, HA HA. Rising Eagle has produced 4 winners to-date, including smart 3yo CRUISING EAGLE (Leon McDonald) the winner of four races, including two at 2YO. Cruising Eagle is now racing at stakes level. Rising Eagles 2yo by GALILEO is owned by Patinack Farm. Previous foals from Rising Eagle have sold for up to $250,000. Her sister HA HAs first foal sold for $1.3 million and her subsequent two foals by Encosta de Lago and Zabeel have been retained by their breeders, John Singleton and Rob Ferguson respectively. Rising Eagle is in foal to Hussonet's US Gr.1 winning son, Host, who stands at Swettenham Stud for $19,250. At 13 years, Rising Eagle qualifies for the tax incentive and there is no GST on this sale. Its not every day that the opportunity arises to add such a quality broodmare to your band at a very reasonable price so please contact Jane for more information.

Danzig Duplication

Did you know that world-wide there are currently only 22 stakes winners inbred to Danzig? Of those, Danehill features in 50% and from this group, 55% combine Danehill with Green Desert. Another 37% of the stakes winners carrying Danehill combined it with Danzig son, Chiefs Crown. This is all part of an article recently researched and written by Jane Henning on the success (or otherwise) of duplicating this prolific influence, and soon to be published in Breeding and Racing magazine.

Gold Rocks!!!

Long term Perth clients, Geoff and Heather Nicholls are over the moon after their two year old filly, Gold Rocks stiffed the opposition in last Saturdays Group 2 Karrakatta Plate as Ascot. The gutsy filly, who started at 15/1 in the $500,000 event, camped behind the leaders before taking a gap and pulling a length clear. By WA based first season sire Oratorio (by Stravinsky), Gold Rocks was bred by the Nicholls family from their mare, Alozie. Looking at the pedigree, it is no surprise that she is proving a sharp juvenile. Oratorio was a precocious runner, taking out three races as a two year old all of which were stakes races including the Adelaide Magic Millions. He also ran fourth in the Gold Coast Magic Millions behind Dance Hero. Gold Rocks first two dam sires, Luskin Star and Zeditave, were both Group One winning two year olds, the former a Golden Slipper winner and the latter a Blue Diamond winner. The Nicholls family are also the proud owners of the old war horse, Dakas Gem, who was purchased through Pedigree Dynamics. Now a nine year old, Dakas Gem has been a great money spinner for them, having won over $680,000 to-date and still earning!

Einstein Outsmarts The Yanks

South American-bred thoroughbreds continue to perform well worldwide with Brazilian-bred son of Spend a Buck, EINSTEIN, winning the Group 1 US$1million Santa Anita Hcp. The favorite for the most famous race to be held at Santa Anita was Champion 2YO in Chile in 2007, MATTO MONDO, who finished a very close third. EINSTEIN has now racked up four Group1 wins and with this latest victory has taken his earning to in excess of US$2.2million.

Fantastic Racing and Breeding Prospect

This lovely scopey filly by GALILEO is situated in Western Australia and was broken in as an early 2 year old before being sent to a provincial trainer for a short prep of 8 weeks, where she displayed a genuine aptitude and ability. Galileos dont generally come into their own until they are three and four year olds. The progeny of her sire had a wonderful season last year and now he is standing for in excess of 250,000 Euros and will no longer be shuttling to the Southern Hemisphere. The residual value of this filly as a broodmare is considerable. She is out of a half-sister to stakes winner STRAWBERRY GIRL whose Redoutes Choice yearling colt was purchased by Gai Waterhouse for $1MILLION at the recent Gold Coast Magic Millions. The filly is currently spelling at Mungrup Stud and these photos were taken just a few days out of training. She is letting down nicely and will benefit greatly from this break. Please contact Jane for further information on this filly.

Pedigree Spotlight - Yesterday Has a Bright Future

Sheikh Mohammed's smart three year old filly Yesterday represents the latest bud on a family tree deep rooted in Thoroughbred history. A daughter of the stakes winning mare Donna Cara and Red Ransom, Yesterday has had five starts for two wins and three thirds, her most recent start resulting in an impressive Listed win at Sandown. Peter Snowdon announced that he would be putting her away for the Autumn and is confident of adding to her black type tally. Yesterday's granddam is the Hotfoot mare Corn, the dam of Maizcay and Fitting, dam of Catbird and Danbird and of Coat, dam of Pillar of Hercules. Her third dam Donna Nook was imported from England in 1975 and settled in well here, producing four stakes winners including the sires County and Dieu D'Or and the dam of Half Hennessy. While these first three generations have yielded many Aussie sires, its further back that things get interesting to pedigree enthusiasts. Donna Nook's dam Donna Lydia is out of a three quarter sister to the great Donatello II, a product of the renowned breeder and pedigree theorist, Federico Tesio. In fact, Donna Lydia is named after his wife, who was invaluable to Senor Tesio with her marvellous knowledge of the Stud Book and gift for organisation. Donatello II produced the likes of Royal Ascot Gold Cup winner Alycidon and Derby winner Crepello and went on to be the Leading Sire of Broodmares in 1953. Donatello II's fourth dam is the incomparable Pretty Polly, a racing legend in England. The winner of 22 of her 24 starts including all 9 of her juvenile starts, Pretty Polly was a relative flop as a broodmare, however her four daughters produced 24 fillies among them and founded a dynasty which includes Nearctic, best known as the sire of Northern Dancer, an indisputable giant in Thoroughbred genealogy. This ties back in with Senor Tesio, who also bred Nearctic. Incidentally, Tesio also bred the horse touted as arguably the best of the 20th Century, Ribot. He shares contention for this title with ten-time Group One winner Brigadier Gerard, who also descends from Pretty Polly. Harking back to our subject horse, Yesterday, it is good to see that not only is she providing a bright spark in the most recent edition of this line, but that her immediate family is also picking up the bit. Her half sister, SW Donna Dior is the dam of promising stayer Galileo's Daughter, who was twice Group One placed last season. Pictured is one of this family's newest additions, a Hussonet colt out of Caradon a half-sister to Yesterday.

Daka Proves He Is a Cut Above

Congratulations to Geoff and Heather Nichols, the proud owners of Daka's Gem, who earlier this month won the Ballarat Cup. The nine year old son of Sedaka, was purchased by Pedigree Dynamics after he had won an 1100m maiden at Scone and placed at both Cessnock and Newcastle. Daka's Gem was then moved to the Nichols' home state of Western Australia where he has gone on to perform amongst Group Company. Winning 11 races including the CB Cox Stakes (Gr2) and York Stakes (L/R) and placing in 5 stakes races including an exciting third place in the Fruit & Veg (Gr1), Daka's Gem has earned over $650,000.00 in prize money. Daka's Gem made the trip over to Victoria earlier this year as he was being weighted out of contention in his home state of Western Australia. With a view to making a transition to hurdling, Daka was transferred to Mornington based trainer David Brideoake. However, the planned switch to the hurdles has not yet occurred as the gelding has been racing so well on the flat. In the lead up to the Ballarat Cup, Daka's Gem turned in some unlucky but very solid performances in the Briesis, Moe and Werribee Cups as well as the Chris Isaak Handicap at Flemington on Stakes Day. With only 300m left in the race the leader kept plugging away at the same place while Daka's Gem found an extra gear and finished strongly to record a half length win. When asked about the gelding's future in hurdling David Brideoake replied "At this stage we haven't made a decision about jumping him but this win might make it a bit harder to decide" and "The Sydney and Brisbane Cups are worth thinking about. You would love a wet Brisbane Carnival. Hes a superior wet-tracker". Of his winning mount jockey Peter Mertens said "He's just very honest, he travelled perfectly in the run and gave his best when I asked him, it was a very good run".

Diana Cazadora Hunting a Win On Aussie Shores

Recent Pedigree Dynamics import Diana Cazadora has commenced training with prominent Sydney Trainer Gerald Ryan. Pictured here at Gerald's Rosehill stables, Diana Cazadora is reported to have eaten every grain she has been given since leaving quarantine, is working around the track well and Gerald is said to be very happy with the filly so far. Diana Cazadora is expected to trial in December so keep your eye out for this Group 1 winning daughter of DUSHYANTOR. We are not sure if the filly was named after the statue of Diana the Huntress that stands in Mexico City or the female Mexican Wrestler that goes by the same name but either way she has some pretty tough namesakes to live up to!

Daughter of Top South American Mare Takes Day 1 Top-price at Keeneland

Last month we brought to your attention a very exciting entry in the 2008 Breeders Cup Challenge Ladies Classic, HYSTERICALADY. Known not only for her explosive turn of foot but for her crushing victories which are usually by multiple lengths, HYSTERICALADY was purchased by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum for US$3,000,000.00 during the opening session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale in Lexington Kentucky. John Ferguson, the Sheikh's bloodstock advisor said of HYSTERICALADY "Shes an outstandingly tough race filly & still racing sound. Shes out of a top, top South American mare, an obvious candidate really". Pedigree Dynamics has sourced not one but two outstanding broodmares that are closely related to Hystericalady however we will not be advertising them to the general public. For genuine enquiries please contact jane@pedigree-dynamics.com.au or phone her on 0414 944 094.

Cause To Celebrate

Jacob Park Thoroughbreds' Principal Danny McMillan contacted our office after taking custody of the newest addition to his broodmare band, Cause To Dream (USA), "she is lovely, thank you" he beamed. Sourced and secured by Pedigree Dynamics, Cause To Dream (USA) is a daughter of Giant's Causeway out of a half-sister to highly successful USA sire DISTORTED HUMOR, the sire of Kentucky Derby winner FUNNY CIDE. Cause To Dream is currently in foal to seven-time Group 1 winner and sire of sixty-six stakes winners GULCH, who is best known in Australia as the sire of THUNDER GULCH. Danny was not only very happy with the quality of the mare we purchased for him but also with our after sale service and the ease of dealing through Pedigree Dynamics. We wish Danny every success with his gorgeous new mare.

PEDIGREE SPOTLIGHT

One family that just keeps on giving is the Almahmoud line. The grand-dam of the legendary NORTHERN DANCER via her daughter Natalma, she is also grand-dam to the sire sensation in HALO. Natalmas grand-daughter Razyana counts DANEHILL amongst her four stakes winners. Almahmoud also heads the family of top racehorses and stallions MACHIAVELLIAN, AL SAMER, EL MOXIE, ARCTIC TERN, ORPEN and DIATRIBE. But its not only this lines stallions that are contributing to the Australian gene pool. A US-bred mare from this line, the stakes placed Needham Star (by Mt. Livermore) is helping to keep this family active in Australia. The dam of four to race for four winners, her offspring includes Tour Guide, a son of Flying Spur and now the winner of eight races. His most recent triumph was this week on the Geelong Cup card, when he recorded a gritty win as favourite, under the guidance of Damien Oliver. His trainer Gillian Heinrich has him nominated for the Blue Ribbon Foundation Sprint at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day. The mating of Needham Star with Flying Spur creates strong line breeding to Almahmoud. Flying Spur carries Danehill and a duplication of Northern Dancer. Needham Star is not only a direct descendant of Almahmoud, but her damsire Arctic Tern is a grandson of this icon. Needham Stars 3yo filly by Giants Causeway has recently won in South Africa and she has a Fastnet Rock colt to represent her at next years yearling sales. We have for sale her two year old filly by Rock of Gibraltar. Her mating carries similar line breeding to Almahmoud. Like Flying Spur, The Rock offers Danehill and a duplication of Northern Dancer to Needham Stars strong genetic background. This attractive correct fillys tabulated pedigree lights up like a Christmas tree and after her racing career, she will be an asset to a discriminating breeders mare band.

NOTICIAS DE SUDAMERICA

Godolphin Racings 2007 Champion 2YO Filly in Chile, COCOA BEACH is certainly living up to the reputation held by Chilean bred thoroughbreds for both talent and toughness. Prior to making the journey to the United States, COCOA BEACH was racing in the UAE where she took it to the boys in the UAE Derby Gr2, earning herself a very credible 3rd place. Coming off a win in the Listed Saratoga Love Signs Stakes, COCOA BEACH collared the defending Eclipse champion handicap mare GINGER PUNCH in the Gr1 Belmont Beldame Stakes before running a brave 2nd place to race favorite ZENYETTA (who now remains unbeaten in eight starts) in the 2008 Breeders Cup Challenge Ladies Classic (formerly the Breeders Cup Distaff). Another entrant in the Breeders Cup Ladies with a Chilean connection was HYSTERICALADY the best performed daughter of leading sire DISTORTED HUMOR out of 1991 Chilean champion older mare SACRAMENTADA. Hystericalady, known for her explosive turn of foot, qualified for the prestigious race when she romped home by four lengths in the 2008 Delaware Handicap, in which she tackled the 10 furlong distance for the first time in her career. Earlier in the year Hystericalady won the Gr2 Fleur de Lis Handicap by seven and a half lengths, giving up nine pounds to her rivals before again devastated her competitors when she won the Gr2 Molly Pitcher Stakes (for the second time) by eight lengths!

THE ECONOMIC CRISIS

During this time of economic turmoil, we thought that we should touch on how the crisis affects the owners of breeding stock & racehorses. We know that many people have taken some big hits on the stock market and that many people are nervous about reinvesting in such a volatile time. The Australian Thoroughbred industry currently presents a great opportunity for investors: Firstly, international clients who usually source their breeding stock in the United States are now looking to our shores due to the reduced exchange rate of the Aussie dollar. We have buyers in India, Brazil, Argentina and Chile who are now well positioned to purchase stakes winning stallions (particularly Danehill line stallions) and exceptionally well bred broodmares from Australia. Secondly, many bloodstock owners are now being forced to sell their breeding stock under value and while it is an unfortunate position to be in, it does present an opportunity for the shrewd buyer. The general rule to any investment is, of course - buy low then sell high and bloodstock is no different. Racing prize money remains unaffected by the fortunes of Wall Street and the NASDAQ so purchasing bloodstock now while prices are down, will only increase the margin of profit when you find yourself collecting that winners trophy and sash!

CAZA-DORA THE EXPLORER

Pedigree Dynamics Import DIANA CAZADORA has touched down in Sydney and is cooling her heels in quarantine before embarking on the Australian component of her brilliant career. A Group 1 winner in her native Chile, she will be trained by successful Sydney Trainer, Gerald Ryan at Rosehill. Bellagio Lodge is no stranger to purchasing South American bloodstock through Pedigree Dynamics and reports that previous acquisition LOVING NEW, dual Gr1 winner and Champion 3YO in Brazil, has produced a strapping Stratum colt and is sending her to Flying Spur this season. Bellagio Lodge is delighted with Loving New, the Manager Wayne Pepper saying I love this mare - she's a magnificent type!

HAPPY OWNERS GET THE GOOD OIL!

This stunning portrait of STAR CROSS (Arg) was painted by renowned Equine Artist Lyn Beaumont. The portrait, which perfectly captures the stakes winning son of Southern Halo, was commissioned by his owners Jill and Michael MacDermott after the stallions untimely passing. Star Cross (Arg) was imported by Pedigree Dynamics from the United States where he finished his racing career with a string of stakes wins and placings. Once in Australia he stood at stud in NSWs Hunter Valley before the Jill and Michael decided to bring him home to Western Australia. Sadly, Star Cross died at the commencement of this third season at stud and his oldest progeny are now two year olds. We are looking forward to watching his progeny do Star Cross proud. Lyn has now been commissioned to paint Australian Horse of the Year, Weekend Hussler and more of her beautiful works can be viewed at her website www.lynbeaumont.com
