Lohan Not Such a Bad Girl
Two year old filly Lohan is proving a surprise packet for her owner / breeder Kate Nivison of Etak Thoroughbreds. The winner of two races (including a Saturday Rosehill event) and two placings from 5 starts to-date, Lohan's latest achievement was a second in the Listed Black Opal Stakes.
Her form and prizemoney of $133,200 has given her automatic entry into the Golden Slipper and her owner a great thrill already.
By Choisir from Inclination (by Pauillac), the dam line is very light on black type. Before Lohan's Black Opal placing, the first black type in the pedigree was five generations back, a horse called Income Tax, who in the late 60's, won the Toowoomba and Scone Cups. Even back then, this family was owned by the Nivisons, who are more famous for breeding and racing Tie The Knot, amongst many others.
Inclination was sent to Choisir on a Pedigree Dynamics high recommendation, the cross creating sex balanced duplications of both Biscay and Sharpen Up. Combining a son and daughter in a mating often has the effect of increasing the speed element, a feature which seems to have been picked up by Lohan.
