Orcas hugely unlucky second on Saturday in the Gr.3 Frank Packer Plate signaled future Group success for the three year old son of Carnegie and Slightly Conceited. Connections plan to run him one more time in Sydney before taking him up to the Queensland Carnival, the primary goal being the Group One Queensland Derby on June 10th.
Orcas owners are keen to give the colt every chance of enhancing his value as a prospective stallion, and his dam Slightly Conceited has the pedigree to support this plan. She is a full sister to 6-time Group 1 winner SLIGHT CHANCE, the dam of the very promising first season sire DANE SHADOW and of Group 3 winner SALGADO.
While she missed in 2008, Slightly Conceited has a yearling filly by Starcraft yet to represent her & is in foal to Break The Vault, a Redoutes Choice sired half-brother to ZABEEL (LDS 24-9-08).
This family has great potential to grow in both Australia & NZ. Half-sister Snobbish is the dam of 2 yearlings that sold for $105K & $140K at the NZ Premier Sales of 2006 & 2007 - one of these, Prickle, has already placed in Group Company twice. Other mares from her immediate family are currently in foal to CHARGE FORWARD, ROCK OF GIBRALTAR, SAVABEEL and NO EXCUSE NEEDED, sire of the 2009 AJC Oaks (Gr1) winner DAFFODIL.
Price is $90,000 + GST. Please contact Jane on 0414 944 094 or 02 9997 3019. (Orca is pictured)
